For most people January is the start of new things, new resolutions, but for several years now I have used January to finish things off. I am very good at starting new projects, new things and not so good at finishing off what I have started. So I finish something before I start anything new in January. Sometimes I feel so good and smug about finishing something that I do a few more too.

Well today I’ve very nearly finished my  CATS  (Critical & Theoretical Studies) work  including the essay (just need one name for a quote off the DVD about David Nash – but can sit in front of the fire and watch it with my son later, he’s still working and I don’t want to distract him), so I’m feeling fairly smug.

I’m even giving myself a day off tomorrow before it’s back to college on Tuesday. So I’m planning on looking out some of my unfinished projects, one in particular is calling. Yesterday I’d found a blog by The Dragonfly Woman about the influence of our parents and grandparents which I’d commented on.  How bizarre. Just looking for the link and got sidetracked on her site which I’ve not looked at yet (working and trying to stay focused) and  Bees in Art caught my eye, then Insects in Art and it opened up one of my tutors!!! Crazy coincidence.

Anyway what I was going to say was it had reminded me of a box I started several years ago using dragonfly fabric – this has got to be the must finish project for January. Along with all my college work. I’m not really slacking Anna!

I have spent lots of time trying to photograph dragonflies – even more difficult than butterflies but I’ve got a few good ones.

This was taken in North western france last May. Not sure whether it’s a dragonfly or not,but it was really beautiful.

Berlin Natural History Museum – easier to capture,

it didn’t keep flying off.

My Dad’s garden – spent ages watching this one.

Again Dad’s – difficult to spot this one.
